(Wayside, TX)
Past President and Life member I live
on a stock-farm (not ranch) at Wayside, TX with my husband, Tom Ferris. In the
past, I have written a Master's thesis in Zoology, a Ph.D dissertation on male
reproductive physiology, some scientific professional articles, and a lot of
college academic classroom stuff as a college professor. More recently I have written
press releases for local groups, educational reports for a Master's degree in
Counseling, and 37 family histories for The Families of Fisher County. I
claim to write free verse poetry and have at least one poem published.
I would like to not only write history but put it into historical fiction.
One short story won a first place in the FIW contest several years ago
but I haven't done much since. I am currently a K-12 school counselor
and a Licensed Professional Counselor who sees the Panhandle Assessment
Center foster children who live in and around Claude.

(Claude, TX) Past President - short story "Kiowa Wells" in the New Traditions in Terror Anthology. He is
working on "Balmorea," a literary ficton work.>writes as R. Austin
Carter Austin was born in the Lone
Star State and he's been living the Texas dream ever since. After
graduating from High School in the Texas Panhandle, Austin moved South
and attended Texas Tech University where his main interests included
women, beer, and Rodeo. Today, Austin lives and works in relative
solitude on his Texas Panhandle cattle ranch with his wife and their
two young sons. Austin has written a number of short stories, and two
novels under a different name. His latest book, SKIN CHANGER, is
the first full length novel he's written as R. Austin Carver.
"I used to write Westerns - Historical Fiction if you're being PC about
it," R.A. says softly in closing. "That was a more innocent time."
Reading the hard-edged Western/Suspense/Horror fiction he writes today,
one wonders where R. Austin Carver's innocence has gone, or if indeed
this tall Texan ever had any.

award-winning author has taught marriage classes and worked with both
men and women since 1970. Her extensive biblical and secular research
for Marriage-A Taste of Heaven series makes it the most comprehensive
material available. The most common remark she hears from
Vol I, God's People Appreciate Marriage is "I'm falling in love
all over again." Vol. II, God's People Make the Best Lovers, surprises
readers with the great wealth of teaching from the Bible. After publishing
these two volumes, Patsy began to receive requests for help with severe
problems that didn't respond to usual marriage classes. Her resulting
study and going through training at two women's shelters led to a
cassette album of classes entitled Challenges in Marriage: How Sin
Inhibits Love and What To Do About It. Currently she is putting
this in book form. Recently two chapters won first place at the Houston
Inspirational Writers Alive! Contest. Her materials are available at www.gospelthemes.com

I teach school (ESL, middle school). I have done a lot of non-fiction
writing i.e. grants, business letters, academic work, but am just
beginning to write fiction. (My husband tells me grant writing is
creative, but it doesn't have much of a plot.) To date I have written
2 short stories, one a toned-down sci-fi, one children's, and the first
50 pages of a mainstream novel. I'm anxious to learn! I have been
published twice, once in the Congressional Register (speech); once in a

I could just publish and get paid. The pen name I use is Myra Lashley.
