Today, Austin lives and works in relative solitude on his Texas Panhandle cattle ranch with his wife and their two young sons. Austin has written a number of short stories, and two novels under a different name. His latest book, SKIN CHANGER, is the first full length novel he's written as R. Austin Carver. "I used to write Westerns - Historical Fiction if you're being PC about it," R.A. says softly in closing. "That was a more innocent time." Reading the hard-edged Western/Suspense/Horror fiction he writes today, one wonders where R. Austin Carver's innocence has gone, or if indeed this tall Texan ever had any.
